Deltaway Boosts Thermal Treatment Technologies, Adds to Team

San Francisco—Deltaway Energy International, Inc., a major San Francisco-based waste-to-energy (WTE) and biomass consulting and operations firm, has hired a top specialist to lead its expansion in the area of emerging thermal treatment technologies.

Lionel Racoussot has joined Deltaway as a Senior Engineer. He brings extensive experience as the former head of the process control department of a boiler and combustion and gasification systems manufacturer.

Racoussot will reinforce Deltaway’s capabilities to solve the most complex technical problems related to solid fuel combustion and gasification, grates, circulating fluidized-bed, bubbling fluidized-bed, steam cycle, and flue gas treatment.

“Advanced bubbling and circulating fluidized bed technologies are more complex than traditional solid fuel combustion systems and require significant experience to implement,” says Francois Screve, Deltaway’s founder and president. “Lionel has a proven ability to optimize WTE and biomass plant performance with these highly efficient and modern processes.”

Fluidized bed technologies allow customers to use new range of solid waste and biomass fuels that can’t be burned with conventional combustion grates. “There are few other companies with the high-level performance culture to master these technologies,” says Racoussot.

Gasification technology increases the percentage of electricity produced from waste-to-energy and biomass fuels by maximizing superheated steam temperature and by using produced syngas as a gas combustible for an engine/turbine. The technology makes it possible to obtain electrical efficiencies of greater than 30 percent in WTE plants. The expanded scope of fuel can also open new markets in industrial waste and other biomass than wood.

Deltaway Energy International, Inc. is a worldwide network of experts who focus on engineering, operation and maintenance, and outage support for waste-to-energy and biomass power plants.
